X (Twitter) MCP Server: Post Tweets and Threads From Claude

A hosted X (Twitter) MCP server for Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor: post tweets, threads, polls and quote posts, reply to mentions and DMs, and read X analytics.

Creator OS · October 3, 2026 · 3 min read

An X (Twitter) MCP server lets Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code or Cursor post to X for you: single tweets, full threads, polls, quote posts and replies, plus DMs and analytics. Creator OS hosts one, so you skip the X developer portal, the paid API tier and the OAuth dance. Add one URL to your AI app and you can say “turn this into a 6-post thread and post it at 9am”.

"Thread this: hook, 4 points, CTA. Post at 9am,
replies limited to people I follow"

Why not build your own X integration?

X’s API now costs real money for posting at any volume, read access costs more, and a basic integration still needs a developer account, an app, OAuth 2.0 with PKCE and token refresh. Media uploads use a separate chunked endpoint. Threads have to be posted one reply at a time with the previous tweet’s id, and if one step fails halfway you’re left with half a thread. Creator OS carries the X access on its side and posts the thread as one job.

What you can do

  • Tweets with text, images or video.
  • Threads with threadItems: each item becomes the next post in the thread, and each can carry its own media.
  • Polls: 2 to 4 options of up to 25 characters, open from 5 minutes to 7 days.
  • Replies and quote posts with replyToTweetId and quoteTweetId.
  • Reply controls with replySettings: following, mentioned users, subscribers or verified.
  • Labels: AI-generated media (madeWithAi), sensitive media, paid partnership (depends on the API tier).
  • Long video for Premium accounts with longVideo.
  • Edit the text of a published post or take it down from X only.
  • Comments and DMs: read and reply to replies on your posts, hide or like them, and answer DMs.
  • Analytics: impressions and engagement per post, daily totals and follower counts.

Connect X to Claude

Step by step: claude mcp add and Cursor MCP.

Prompts for X

  • “Turn this YouTube transcript into a 7-post thread. First post is a hook under 200 characters, last post links the video. Post it at 9am.”
  • “Run a poll: which should I build next, A, B or C, open for 24 hours.”
  • “Quote this tweet with my take, two sentences, no hashtags.”
  • “Find replies to my posts from the last 24 hours that ask a question and answer them.”
  • “Which of my posts this month got the most impressions? Write 5 new hooks in the same shape.”

Practical tips

Check length first

X counts characters differently from other platforms (links count as 23, some characters count double). Ask Claude to run check_caption_length on a caption before posting it everywhere, or use creatoros validate:post-length in the CLI.

Duplicate posts

X rejects a post that is identical to one you published recently. When you recycle a hook, change the wording.

Video length

Standard accounts have a video length cap (about 2 minutes 20 seconds). Cut a teaser for X and link the full video, or use longVideo on a Premium account.

Post the same thread to X and Threads

Meta’s Threads app also supports multi-post threads with the same threadItems field, so one prompt can post the same thread to both. See the Threads MCP server guide.

FAQ

Do I need X API access?

No. You connect your X account with a normal sign-in and Creator OS handles the API access.

Can an agent post on X every day automatically?

Yes. Schedule a week in one prompt, or run Social Agents, our open-source agent that posts and replies on a schedule.

API docs?

See the X API reference and post options.
