If you build in Cursor, you can ship the launch post from the same window you shipped the feature. Add the Creator OS MCP server to Cursor and its agent can publish and schedule to Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, LinkedIn, Facebook and Threads, answer comments, and pull analytics. It is one entry in mcp.json.

X LinkedIn ThreadsStep 1: get an API key
Create a Creator OS account, connect your socials, and copy the workspace API key from Settings, API keys. It starts with cos_live_.
Step 2: add the server to Cursor
Open Cursor Settings, then MCP, then add a new server, or edit ~/.cursor/mcp.json (all projects) or .cursor/mcp.json (this project):
{
"mcpServers": {
"creatoros": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://mcp.creatoros.ca/mcp",
"headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer cos_live_..." }
}
}
}
The server should show a green dot and its tool list. If you commit .cursor/mcp.json, keep the key out of it and load it from your environment.
Step 3: ask the agent
- “Read the last 10 commits and write a short ‘what shipped this week’ post. Post it to X and LinkedIn at 10am tomorrow.”
- “Take
public/demo.mp4and post it as a Reel and a TikTok with a caption about the new export feature.” - “Write a 5-post X thread explaining how we built the search feature, from
docs/search.md.” - “Which of our launch posts this month got the most clicks?”
Why developers use it
Build in public consistently
The hardest part of building in public is the posting, not the building. When the agent already knows what changed (it can read the diff), a launch post is one sentence away.
No platform APIs to learn
Seven platforms have seven auth flows, upload formats and rate limits. The server hides all of that behind tools like create_post, upload_media_from_url and get_post_analytics. If you want the same thing in your own code, the Creator OS API is the REST version.
Webhooks for your app
Want your product to react when a post goes live or a comment arrives? Ask the agent to register a webhook. See social media webhooks.
Same config, other editors
Windsurf and VS Code take the same mcpServers block. Claude Code uses one command, see claude mcp add. Claude and ChatGPT use sign-in instead of a key, see the MCP docs.
Troubleshooting
- Red dot or 401: check the header is exactly
Authorization: Bearer cos_live_.... - Tools missing: reload the window after editing
mcp.json. - Several clients: one key is one workspace. Add one server entry per client with different names.
