Threads MCP Server: Post to Meta Threads From Claude and ChatGPT

Post to Meta Threads from Claude or ChatGPT with a hosted Threads MCP server: single posts, multi-post threads, topic tags, first replies and Threads analytics.

Creator OS · October 3, 2026 · 3 min read

A Threads MCP server connects Meta’s Threads app to Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code or Cursor, so your AI can post for you: single posts, multi-post threads, images and video, with a topic tag and a first reply. Creator OS hosts one. Threads is one of the fastest places to grow a text audience right now, and it rewards volume, which is exactly what an AI with a posting tool is good at.

What the Threads API allows

Meta opened a publishing API for Threads, but it is its own product: separate OAuth, separate permissions from Instagram, a container-then-publish flow like Instagram, and a 250-posts-per-24-hours cap per account. Creator OS connects Threads with Meta’s sign-in and handles the containers, media processing and scheduling. The MCP server turns that into tools Claude can call.

What you can do

  • Text posts with images or video.
  • Multi-post threads with threadItems. The first item is the root post, each next item replies to the previous one.
  • Topic tags with topic_tag (1 to 50 characters, no periods or ampersands). Threads uses one topic per post for discovery; set it yourself or it is pulled from your hashtags.
  • A first reply with firstComment, up to 500 characters, posted right after the post goes live. It is the natural place for a link or a call to action.
  • Schedule posts for any time; Creator OS publishes them on time.
  • Read and answer replies on your posts, and hide or delete ones you don’t want.
  • Analytics: views, likes and replies per post, daily totals and follower counts.

Connect Threads to Claude

  1. Create a Creator OS account and connect Threads.
  2. Claude: Settings, Connectors, Add custom connector, paste https://mcp.creatoros.ca/mcp.
  3. ChatGPT: developer mode, add a connector with the same URL.
  4. Claude Code, Cursor and Codex: use an API key, see the MCP docs.

What works on Threads (and how to ask for it)

We post on Threads every day across several accounts. What we’ve learned:

  • Believable specifics beat big flexes. “Helped a café owner go from 0 to 40 bookings a week” outperforms “I made $1M”. Ask Claude for a concrete before and after.
  • Stakes and deadlines pull replies. A post with a real deadline or a choice to make gets people talking.
  • Volume matters. Several posts a day is normal on Threads. Schedule a batch in one prompt instead of posting live.
  • Replies are the reach. Answer early replies fast. Ask Claude to check replies twice a day and answer the questions.

Prompts:

  • “Write 10 Threads posts about building with Claude, each with a specific outcome. Schedule 3 a day starting tomorrow at 9am, 1pm and 7pm.”
  • “Turn my latest YouTube video into a 5-post thread, and put the video link in a first reply.”
  • “Post the same thread to Threads and X.” (Both use threadItems.)
  • “Which of my Threads posts this week got the most replies? Write 5 follow-ups in that format.”

Limits to know

  • 250 posts per account per 24 hours, and the first reply counts as a post.
  • 500 characters per post.
  • No DMs: Threads has no messaging API.

FAQ

Is Threads connected separately from Instagram?

Yes. Threads is its own connection in Creator OS, even though you sign in with the same Meta account.

Can I post the same content to Threads, X and LinkedIn at once?

Yes, in one call. Claude can also tune the wording for each platform. See posting to every platform from Claude.

Can it run on autopilot?

Yes. Social Agents is our open-source agent that posts and replies on a schedule through the same API.

Prefer to watch? The KevBuildsApps YouTube channel walks through builds like this one, start to finish.
