TikTok MCP Server: Post TikToks From Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor

A TikTok MCP server gives an AI app the tools to post to TikTok for you. With Creator OS connected to Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code or Cursor, you can say “post this clip to TikTok at 7pm with comments on and duets off” and it happens: the upload, the privacy settings, TikTok’s required consent flags, the cover and the schedule. Why TikTok is the hardest platform to automate

TikTok’s Content Posting API is strict. Every post needs a privacy level taken from the creator’s own allowed values, explicit choices for comments, duets and stitches, and two consent flags that must both be true (TikTok calls them a legal requirement). Apps that haven’t passed TikTok’s audit can only post privately. Photo posts and video posts take different fields. Accounts connected through TikTok’s Business app follow different rules again.

That is why most “TikTok MCP” projects on GitHub only read data. Creator OS publishes through an integration that posts publicly, and its MCP tools carry TikTok’s rules for the model: Claude is told which fields TikTok requires, so it asks you or picks sensible defaults instead of failing.

What you can do

• Post videos now or on a schedule, with your caption and hashtags.
• Post photo carousels (media_type: "photo") with a long description up to 4,000 characters, a chosen cover image (photo_cover_index) and optional auto-added music (auto_add_music).
• Send to drafts with draft: true. The video lands in your TikTok Creator Inbox so you can add a trending sound and publish from the app. See the TikTok draft upload guide.
• Set the cover with a custom image (video_cover_image_url, JPG, PNG or WebP up to 20 MB) or a timestamp (video_cover_timestamp_ms).
• Control interaction: allow_comment, allow_duet, allow_stitch, and the privacy level.
• Disclose properly: AI-generated content (video_made_with_ai) and commercial content (commercialContentType: brand organic or branded content).
• Business accounts: attach a Commercial Music Library track, add a location tag, or publish as an ads-only post for Spark Ads.
• Read analytics: views, likes, comments and shares per video, plus daily totals and your best time to post.
• Cross-post the same video to Reels and YouTube Shorts in one call.

Set it up

1. Create a Creator OS account and connect TikTok on the Connect page.
2. In Claude: Settings, Connectors, Add custom connector, paste https://mcp.creatoros.ca/mcp. In ChatGPT: developer mode, add a connector with the same URL.
3. Sign in, pick the workspace, choose read only or read & write.

The TikTok rules in plain English

Privacy level

TikTok returns the privacy levels each creator is allowed to use: public, mutual friends, followers or only me. You must send one of them. Accounts connected through TikTok’s Business app can only publish videos as public (unless you send them as drafts).

Consent flags

content_preview_confirmed and express_consent_given must both be true on every post. The MCP tool sets them because you asked to publish.

Trending sounds

The API can’t pick a trending sound for a video. Your options: bake the sound into the file, use a Commercial Music Library track on a Business account, or post as a draft and add the sound in the app.

Comments

FAQ

Do I need TikTok API access or an audited app?

No. Creator OS holds the TikTok integration. You connect your account with TikTok’s own sign-in.

Can I schedule weeks of TikToks at once?

Yes. Ask Claude to schedule a folder, or use the CLI: creatoros posts:bulk-upload --file calendar.json --dryRun checks the whole calendar before anything goes out. See Claude Code for social media.
