SEO Agent Kit is an open-source SEO agent for Claude Code that writes, fact-checks and publishes WordPress posts through Creator OS, then reads PostHog signups and Google Search Console to learn which posts win and write more like them. It is Kevin’s project, and the source lives at github.com/kevinbadi/seo-agent-kit.

What Is SEO Agent Kit and Who Is It For

It is for people who already publish on WordPress and want an agent to run the research, drafting, checking and measuring, not just generate a wall of text.

SEO Agent Kit is a set of Claude Code skills plus a PostHog analytics kit, packaged as one repo. The README describes it plainly: a self-improving SEO agent that writes, fact-checks and publishes WordPress posts via Creator OS, learns from PostHog signups and Google Search Console, and aims to get cited by AI search. Kevin built it, and you can watch walkthroughs of his open-source projects on the KevBuildsApps YouTube channel.

The repo ships three agent skills: seo-engine, wordpress-blog and ai-search-files. Alongside them sits the PostHog side: a twice-daily snapshot job that pulls from PostHog, and the queries the agent reads to see which posts convert.

Who it fits:

  • You run a WordPress blog on WordPress.com or a self-hosted install on your own domain.
  • You already use Claude Code and are comfortable in a terminal.
  • You have PostHog installed on your site and want signups, not pageviews, to be the score.
  • You can create a Google service account and add it to Search Console.

Who it does not fit: anyone who wants a hosted dashboard with no setup, or a blog on a platform other than WordPress. Creator OS also connects a Shopify store blog, but this kit’s publishing path is the WordPress one.

How the Self-Improving SEO Agent Works

The word “self-improving” here means one thing: the agent reads real outcomes and changes what it writes next. It does not retrain a model.

The loop has three moves.

  1. Research and write. The seo-engine skill takes a topic and works it into a post, with the wordpress-blog skill drafting the article structure. The ai-search-files skill handles the machine-readable layer that AI answer engines read.
  2. Publish through Creator OS. The post goes to your connected WordPress site through the Creator OS API. Creator OS blog drafts by default unless you set publish, so the agent’s first output is a draft you can read.
  3. Measure and feed back. PostHog tells the agent which posts produced signups. Search Console tells it which queries those posts already rank for. The next brief is written toward the overlap.

A worked example of the third move. Say PostHog shows one post about a CLI install brings most of your signups, and Search Console shows it ranking for a phrase you never targeted on purpose. You tell Claude Code to write the follow-up. The agent already has the winning query and the converting page in reach, so the next brief starts from evidence instead of a guess.

What You Need Before You Install SEO Agent Kit

Three connections plus two basics. Get all five in place first, because the skills are thin wrappers around them.

Piece What it does What you provide
Creator OS plus WordPress Where posts are written and published A Creator OS account with WordPress connected and an API key
PostHog Shows which posts bring signups A phx_ personal key with Query: Read, and PostHog on your site
Google Search Console Shows which queries posts rank for A service account added as an Owner of your property
Postgres database Stores the agent’s data Supabase, Neon, Railway or a local install
Model key Runs the agent A Claude key, or any OpenAI-compatible API

The WordPress connection is the part Creator OS handles for you. In Creator OS, connect a WordPress.com site or a self-hosted install on your own domain, then create an API key under Settings. That key is scoped to one workspace, so an agent holding it cannot touch another workspace’s accounts. Keys start with cos_live_, and you can make a read-only key if you want the first runs to be unable to publish. Details are in the blog API docs and the authentication docs.

How to Set Up SEO Agent Kit in Claude Code

Clone the repo, fill in the connections, and let the skills register. The README’s Setup section is the authority; treat the steps below as the shape of it.

  1. Clone github.com/kevinbadi/seo-agent-kit and open the folder in Claude Code. The skills live under .claude/skills/seo-engine, wordpress-blog and ai-search-files.
  2. Add your Creator OS API key, PostHog phx_ key and Search Console service account details where the repo’s setup asks for them.
  3. Point the snapshot job at your PostHog project so it can pull twice a day.
  4. Connect your Postgres database and your model key.
  5. Run a first task: ask for one draft post on a topic you already rank near, and read the draft before anything publishes.

If you want the publishing side wired up in the same motion, the social media agent walkthrough shows the same pattern of connecting Claude Code to Creator OS. The Claude Code plugin docs cover the plugin route if you want MCP tools rather than a cloned repo.

A first prompt that keeps you safe:

Read the last 30 days of PostHog signups and Search
Console queries. Pick the topic where they overlap most.
Draft one WordPress post for it as a draft, not published.
Show me the outline before you write the body.

How the Agent Writes and Fact-Checks WordPress Posts

The fact-check step is the reason this kit is worth the setup. A generated post that invents a number is worse than no post.

The wordpress-blog skill talks to the Creator OS blog endpoints. Creator OS can write, schedule and publish SEO articles on a site blog, with an SEO title and meta description, and drafts by default unless publish is set. That default is the safety catch: the agent produces a draft, you read it, then you publish.

Fact-checking is the agent’s job in the workflow, and it is a step you should make explicit in the prompt rather than assume. Ask it to list every claim, number and quote in the draft and mark each one with where it came from. Anything it cannot source gets cut or softened.

For the draft you just wrote: list every factual claim
in a table with columns claim, source, confidence.
Remove or rewrite any row where source is empty.
Then save it again as a draft.

Two things the agent should not do, and you should say so. It should not state competitors’ prices or limits as fact. It should not invent statistics, customers or testimonials to fill a section. Ask for the opposite: plain statements and a link to a docs page instead of a made-up number.

How SEO Agent Kit Learns From PostHog and Search Console

Each source answers a different question, and the agent needs both before it decides what to write next.

Source Question it answers What the agent does with it
PostHog Which post produced signups? Copies the structure and angle of converting posts
Search Console Which queries does a post already rank for? Writes follow-ups toward queries you are close on
Creator OS analytics How did the published post perform? Feeds per-post numbers and best time to post back in

The PostHog side runs on a twice-daily snapshot job, so the agent’s picture of what converts is never more than half a day old. That cadence is what makes the loop useful. If you only check analytics monthly, you write ten posts before you learn one thing.

Creator OS adds a second measurement channel. Per-post analytics, daily account metrics and best time to post run across your connected platforms, and trackable go.creatoros.ca short links carry click stats. When a blog post gets promoted on social, those clicks show up next to the signup data.

Can SEO Agent Kit Get Your Posts Cited by AI Search

No tool can guarantee a citation. What the kit does is build the machine-readable files AI answer engines read and keep the writing honest, which is the part you control.

The ai-search-files skill handles that layer. Creator OS already publishes a public llms.txt file, which is the same idea applied to a product site: a plain file that tells an AI crawler what the site is and where the docs are. The skill applies that thinking to your blog.

What moves the odds, in plain terms:

  • Specific, sourced statements. Answer engines quote sentences that stand alone.
  • A direct answer in the first lines of every post, before any backstory.
  • Clean structure: real headings, short paragraphs, one idea per section.
  • Pages that load and parse without a browser running scripts.

The kit can help you hit all four. It cannot make ChatGPT or Perplexity choose you.

Is SEO Agent Kit Better Than Other Claude Code SEO Skills

Better is the wrong question. The right one is whether you want an agent that closes the loop from publish to signup, and that is what this kit is built around.

Other Claude Code SEO skills generally stop at writing. You get a draft, you paste it somewhere, and the learning is manual. SEO Agent Kit’s difference is the feedback step: PostHog and Search Console results come back into the next brief.

Compared with the rest of the Creator OS surface, it is narrower on purpose. The shorts workflow handles short video. SEO Agent Kit handles the blog, end to end, and measures the result. If you want the whole picture of what an agent can do on your accounts, the Open Edits update and the launch video at youtu.be show the open-source side of Kevin’s work.

FAQ

How do I install SEO Agent Kit in Claude Code?

Clone the repo from github.com/kevinbadi/seo-agent-kit, open the folder in Claude Code, and fill in the connections the README’s Setup section asks for. The skills sit under .claude/skills/ as seo-engine, wordpress-blog and ai-search-files. You also need a Creator OS API key, a PostHog phx_ key, a Search Console service account, a Postgres database and a model key.

Is SEO Agent Kit free and open source?

Yes. The README calls it fully open source, and the code is on GitHub at github.com/kevinbadi/seo-agent-kit. What costs money is the surrounding pieces: your WordPress hosting, PostHog, your model usage, and a Creator OS plan if you publish through it. Creator OS plans start at $14.99/month and include the API.

Does SEO Agent Kit work with WordPress.com and self-hosted WordPress?

Yes, both. Creator OS connects a WordPress site whether it is WordPress.com or a self-hosted install on your own domain. The agent then writes and publishes through the Creator OS blog API, which drafts by default unless you tell it to publish.

How does SEO Agent Kit use PostHog and Google Search Console to improve posts?

PostHog shows which published posts produced signups, and Search Console shows which queries those posts rank for. A twice-daily snapshot job keeps the PostHog data current. The agent then writes the next post toward the overlap: a query you are close on, in the style of a post that already converts.

Can SEO Agent Kit help my content get cited by ChatGPT and Perplexity?

It helps with the parts you control: the ai-search-files skill builds machine-readable files, and the fact-check step keeps claims sourced and specific, which is what answer engines tend to quote. It cannot guarantee a citation. No tool can, and any tool that promises that is selling you something.
