PostNitro for Agents is a Product Hunt launch that gives an AI agent a design-and-publish layer: a 35-tool MCP server plus OAuth sign-in from Claude or ChatGPT. The launch describes an agent that can design and publish social posts, which matches the second half of an agent workflow. Creator OS covers that same half with a hosted MCP server and a REST API.

Threads Reddit Discord Slack WhatsApp + SkoolWhat Is PostNitro for Agents?
PostNitro for Agents is a launch, listed on Product Hunt, that puts social post design and publishing behind an MCP server so an AI agent can run it.
That is the whole claim, and it is a useful one. An agent that writes a caption still needs something to turn that caption into a finished-looking post and something else to push it to the right accounts. The PostNitro launch sits on the design side and promises publishing from the same connection. Read the launch page for the details: PostNitro on Product Hunt.
If you are building automation, the interesting part is not the tool count. It is the shape. The agent does not open a browser and click around a dashboard. It calls tools. That is the same pattern Creator OS uses: a hosted MCP server at mcp.creatoros.ca/mcp with nothing to install, about 160 tools covering posts, analytics, comments, DMs, automations, webhooks, Skool, Reddit, Discord, WhatsApp, Slack, Shopify, the blog and the Ads add-on.
The practical lesson from PostNitro for Agents is that design and publishing can be two separate MCP servers behind one agent. You do not need a single vendor to own the whole chain.
How Does the 35-Tool MCP Server Work?
An MCP server exposes named functions your AI app can call; 35 tools means 35 named actions an agent can take without you writing glue code.
In practice the flow looks like this. You connect the server once. Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Windsurf or VS Code reads the tool list and decides which one fits the request. Ask for a carousel about a product launch and the agent picks the design tool. Ask it to publish, and it picks the publish tool. You never write a request body.
The same flow on Creator OS, using the CLI for a post that an agent could also send through MCP:
creatoros posts:create \
--text "Launch week: three lessons from building in public" \
--platforms instagram,tiktok,linkedin \
--media https://example.com/carousel-1.png \
--scheduledAt 2026-03-04T14:00:00Z \
--timezone America/Toronto
One command, three networks, one scheduled time. The API does the per-network rule work: Reels formats, TikTok consent flags, character limits. You can check a caption before it goes anywhere:
creatoros validate:post-length --text "Your caption here"
Two things to know about tool counts. First, a bigger number is not automatically better. What matters is whether the tool you need is there on the night you need it. Second, MCP tool lists are visible to the model. A tight, well-named set is easier for an agent to use correctly than a sprawling one. Creator OS tool names are readable on purpose: create_post, get_best_time_to_post, reply_to_comment, links_stats, skool_multi_post. See the full list at the MCP docs.
Can You Connect Claude or ChatGPT With OAuth?
The launch describes OAuth sign-in from Claude or ChatGPT, which means you approve access in a browser and the AI app holds the connection instead of you pasting a key.
That matters for three reasons. There is no secret sitting in a config file. You can revoke access in one place. And the connection gets a name and a scope, so you can tell one agent from another.
Creator OS takes a related approach with a choice you make at connect time:
| Step | Claude | ChatGPT |
|---|---|---|
| Where to add | Settings > Connectors > Add custom connector | Add the same URL as a connector in developer mode |
| URL | https://mcp.creatoros.ca/mcp | https://mcp.creatoros.ca/mcp |
| Scope choice | Read only or read & write | Read only or read & write |
| Key handling | Each connection gets its own key under Settings > Connected apps | Same |
| Agency plans | One client workspace per connection | Same |
Read-only connections only see read tools, and the API refuses writes from them. Destructive tools such as delete post, delete comment, delete automation, delete webhook, disconnect account and delete ad are marked so the AI app asks you first. That is the guardrail that makes an always-on agent tolerable.
Claude Code users can skip the browser flow:
claude mcp add --transport http creatoros \
https://mcp.creatoros.ca/mcp \
--header "Authorization: Bearer cos_live_..."
The key is pinned to one workspace, one set of socials. An agent holding one workspace’s key cannot post to another, which is the property that makes agency work possible. Cursor, Windsurf and VS Code use the same URL in an mcpServers entry with type http and the Authorization header. Details at the authentication docs.
What an AI Social Media Agent Can Design and Publish
A working agent handles design, publishing, and what happens after the post goes live; the last part is where most setups break down.
Here is a workflow you can run today. A designer tool makes the image. The agent uploads it once and reuses the id:
creatoros media:upload ./carousel-1.png
# returns med_..., reusable on every platform
Then it creates the post. Then the part people forget: the conversation. Comments and DMs arrive and someone has to answer them. Creator OS handles comment replies on Instagram, Facebook, X, Threads, YouTube, LinkedIn and Reddit, and DM replies on Instagram, Facebook, X, Reddit, WhatsApp and Slack. TikTok comment replies are not supported, so plan that channel differently.
creatoros inbox:comments --platform instagram --limit 20
creatoros inbox:reply post_123 --accountId acc_456 \
--message "Thanks for reading, the template is in the doc."
creatoros inbox:private-reply post_123 cmt_789 --accountId acc_456 \
--message "Sending the link now."
Comment-to-DM keyword funnels are supported on Instagram and Facebook, which is how a design post becomes a lead. The comments-to-DM use case walks through the setup.
Analytics close the loop:
creatoros analytics:posts --platform instagram --sortBy engagement --limit 10
creatoros analytics:best-time --platform linkedin
An agent that reads its own numbers and picks next week’s posting time is a different thing from a scheduling dashboard. If you want to see this running end to end, the walkthroughs are on the KevBuildsApps YouTube channel.
PostNitro for Agents vs Building Your Own Social Agent
The honest comparison is not tool counts; it is who owns the code between your prompt and the published post.
| Buy a connector (PostNitro for Agents) | Build on a platform API (Creator OS) | |
|---|---|---|
| Setup time | Approve OAuth, start asking for posts | Get a key, connect accounts, write or prompt the agent |
| Where design happens | Inside the connected tools | Your designer tool of choice, then media:upload |
| Control over publishing rules | Whatever the vendor exposes | Per-platform options in the API request |
| Replies and DMs | Read the launch page for scope | Comments, DMs and funnels in one inbox |
| Lock-in | Connection-level | Key is workspace-scoped and revocable |
Neither column is wrong. If your output is mostly designed graphics and you want a single connection, a design-first connector is a reasonable start. If your agent needs to post across 11 platforms, reply to comments, run Skool communities and read ad spend, you want an API underneath it.
Creator OS ships all of it: the web app, the iOS app, the REST API, the CLI @creatoros/cli, a Claude Code plugin and the hosted MCP server. That is the “posting layer” role in a stack. The design layer stays swappable.
There is a third path too: the open-source harness. Social Agents at github.com/kevinbadi/social-agents runs your socials on Creator OS. Start it with npm start creatoros social-agents. It interviews you about your brand, then posts, replies to comments and DMs, runs automations and reports, with a local dashboard. Bring your own model: a logged-in Claude Code session, an ANTHROPIC_API_KEY, or any Anthropic-compatible API.
If your agent needs to turn talking-head footage into a short first, the open-source OPEN VIDEO EDIT skills render locally with Python and ffmpeg. The launch video shows the whole setup: watch it here.
What Is the AI Agent API and Where Does It Fit?
An AI agent API is the layer a model calls when it stops talking and starts doing; MCP is the plug, the REST API is the socket behind it.
Creator OS exposes both. The MCP server is the easy path: add the URL, sign in, done. The REST API is the path when you need exact control. It authenticates with a key starting cos_live_ and is pinned to one workspace. Ids are typed tokens you can read at a glance: acc_ for account, post_, cmt_, conv_, msg_, auto_, med_, evt_ for webhook events, ad_ and aud_. Reddit, Discord and Shopify resource ids are the network’s own ids.
Errors use one shape so your agent can branch on it:
{ "error": { "code": "...", "message": "...", "status": 400 } }
Two API details that save a lot of debugging. First, networks named in a post that are not connected come back in missing_platforms and the rest still go out, so one bad account does not kill a cross-post. Second, webhooks fire on post.published, post.failed, comment.received and more, signed with X-CreatorOS-Signature, which means your agent can react to real events instead of polling.
creatoros webhooks:create \
--url https://your-app.example.com/hooks/creatoros \
--events post.published,comment.received
The base URL and every request shape live in the docs at https://www.creatoros.ca/docs. Start with the posts API and the webhooks guide.
How to Add PostNitro as a Posting Layer in Creator OS
You can run a design connector and Creator OS side by side in the same agent session; the agent picks the tool that fits each step.
- Connect the design side. Follow the launch instructions at PostNitro on Product Hunt and finish the OAuth approval.
- Connect Creator OS. Add
https://mcp.creatoros.ca/mcpas a custom connector, or runclaude mcp add --transport http creatoros https://mcp.creatoros.ca/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer cos_live_...". - Give the agent a rule. Tell it in plain language: design with the design server, publish and reply with Creator OS. Save that as a project instruction so it holds every session.
- Test the split. Ask for one carousel, publish it to Instagram and LinkedIn, then read back the post analytics. If both halves answer, the wiring is right.
- Tighten permissions. Use a read-only connection for reporting agents, and keep delete tools for humans.
If you prefer the CLI for the publish step, the skills make it easy. npx @creatoros/cli@latest init installs 14 Claude Code skills including post-everywhere, schedule-posts, respond-to-comments and respond-to-dms. creatoros sync updates skills later without overwriting files you edited; updates land as .new files. The CLI docs list every command, and the Claude Code plugin docs cover the plugin, which adds a publish guard that asks Proceed or Cancel before anything is published, spent or deleted.
One honest note about the CLI: it has no Reddit, Discord, Slack, WhatsApp or Shopify commands. Those platforms are reached through the API, the MCP server or posts:create.
FAQ
What is PostNitro for Agents?
PostNitro for Agents is a Product Hunt launch that gives AI agents a way to design and publish social posts through an MCP server with OAuth sign-in from Claude or ChatGPT. The launch describes 35 tools and a design-plus-publish workflow. Full details are on the launch page.
How many tools does the PostNitro MCP server have?
The launch states 35 tools. Tool count is a rough signal of surface area, not a quality score; what matters is whether the specific action your workflow needs is exposed. Creator OS exposes about 160 tools covering posts, analytics, comments, DMs, automations, webhooks, Skool, Reddit, Discord, WhatsApp, Slack, Shopify, the blog and ads.
Can ChatGPT or Claude publish social posts with OAuth?
The launch says yes for PostNitro, via OAuth approval from Claude or ChatGPT. On Creator OS you add the MCP URL as a connector and sign in to Creator OS, choosing read only or read & write, and each connection gets its own key under Settings > Connected apps. Read-only connections can see and read but the API refuses writes from them.
Is PostNitro a good posting layer for a social agents repo?
It is worth testing if your agent’s output is mostly designed graphics, because a single OAuth connection is fast to stand up. A harness like Social Agents expects a platform it can post, reply and report through, which is what the Creator OS API provides. You can also run both: one connection for design, one for publishing and the inbox.
What is the best AI agent for social media design and publishing?
There is no single best, because design and publishing are different jobs and the strongest setup uses two connectors behind one agent. Creator OS does not ship its own model; it works with any MCP-capable app, including Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Gemini, Ollama, Grok and others. Pick the model you trust, then give it a publishing layer you can audit.
