Claude Code templates are reusable instruction files you save once and run again, so Claude Code does a repeatable job for your social accounts: draft replies, build a week of posts, or write a weekly report. You paste a file, run one command, and check the output before anything goes live.

Posts, replies, numbers back in your terminalWhat Are Claude Code Templates and Why Content Teams Should Care
A Claude Code template is a fixed instruction set you reuse, so the model stops guessing and starts executing a job you defined once.
Claude Code is Anthropic’s command line agent. It reads files in your project, runs shell commands, and follows instructions you leave in a markdown file. That is enough to make it an operator for your social accounts when it has a tool to act with. Creator OS is that tool.
Three reasons this lands for content teams:
- Repeatable output. A template fixes tone, structure and steps. Your tenth reply draft looks like your first.
- No glue code. The
creatorosCLI does the work. Claude Code calls it. You read the result. - One workspace per brand. An API key is pinned to one set of socials, so a template running for client A cannot post to client B.
This post stays on the copy-paste layer: the files, the commands and the stop conditions. For the deeper build story, read the OS Creator 1.0 to 2.0 post on the Creator OS blog.
How to Get Claude Code Set Up in 15 Minutes (No Engineering Needed)
Setup is four terminal commands and one file. If you can paste text, you can do this.
- Install the Creator OS CLI and its skills:
npx @creatoros/cli@latest init. That installs 14 Claude Code skills, including post-everywhere, respond-to-comments, respond-to-dms, analytics, schedule-posts, ads, skool and blog. - Authenticate:
creatoros auth:check. Thencreatoros profiles:listto see which workspaces your key can reach. - Confirm your accounts:
creatoros accounts:health. Fix any expired connection before you build a template on top of it. - Connect the MCP server inside Claude Code if you prefer tools over shell commands:
claude mcp add --transport http creatoros https://mcp.creatoros.ca/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer cos_live_..."
Keep skills current with creatoros sync. It updates the installed skills without overwriting edits you made. Your edited files stay put and new versions arrive as .new files.
Two habits worth forming on day one:
- Write every template into a file (for example
reply-draft.md) and tell Claude Code to read it. Chat history is not a template. - Start with read tools only. Run
creatoros posts:list --status published --limit 5andcreatoros analytics:posts --limit 10before you let anything publish.
The hosted MCP server needs nothing installed on your machine beyond the connection. Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Windsurf and VS Code all take the same URL. Read-only connections only see read tools, and the API refuses writes from them, so a junior teammate can draft without touching live accounts.
Claude Code Docs and Reference: The Only Pages You Actually Need
You need the Creator OS docs for the tool layer and Anthropic’s own docs for Claude Code itself. Everything else is optional reading.
| You want to | Go here |
|---|---|
| Install skills and see CLI commands | creatoros.ca/docs/cli |
| Set up the MCP server and its tools | creatoros.ca/docs/mcp |
| Install the Claude Code plugin | creatoros.ca/docs/claude-code |
| Check API keys and read-only keys | creatoros.ca/docs/authentication |
| See per platform post options | creatoros.ca/docs/post-options |
| Find the REST base URL and shapes | creatoros.ca/docs |
The Claude Code plugin adds a live pane you open with /creatoros, plus /cos-stats and /cos-health for an instant read on your accounts. It also ships a publish guard that asks Proceed or Cancel before anything is published, spent or deleted. Install it with /plugin marketplace add kevinbadi/creatoros-claude-plugin, then /plugin install creatoros@creatoros and /plugin configure creatoros@creatoros when it asks for your cos_live_ key.
Template 1: Reply Drafting That Sounds Like You
The fastest win is a reply template that pulls real comments, drafts in your voice, and leaves the send decision to you.
Save this as reply-draft.md:
Read reply-draft.md and follow it exactly.
1. Run: creatoros inbox:comments --platform instagram --limit 20
2. Group comments into: question, compliment, complaint, spam.
3. Draft one reply per comment in this voice: short, warm,
no exclamation marks, one concrete next step.
4. Never promise a discount or a timeline.
5. Print a table: comment id, account id, draft reply.
6. Do not send. Wait for my approval.
You review the table, delete the rows you dislike, then say “send the rest”. Claude Code runs:
creatoros inbox:reply <postId> --accountId <id> \
--message "<text>" --commentId <id>
Two extras make this template earn its keep. First, creatoros inbox:private-reply sends a DM tied to a comment, which is how you move a link or a booking question out of public view. Second, the same funnel can run without you: creatoros automations:create takes keywords and a DM message, with --matchMode exact|contains|word, plus an optional public comment reply.
Keep the voice rules in the file, not in the chat. That is what makes it a template. Comment replies work on Instagram, Facebook, X, Threads, YouTube, LinkedIn and Reddit. TikTok comment replies are not supported, so scope that template to the platforms that do.
Template 2: Turn One Post Into a Week of Scheduled Content
One source asset becomes a week of scheduled posts when the template fixes the remix rules and the schedule in advance.
This is where most teams lose hours: rewriting one idea for each platform by hand. The template does the reshaping. Creator OS applies each platform’s rules.
Read remix-week.md and follow it.
Source: the published post id I give you.
1. Pull it: creatoros posts:get <postId>
2. Produce 5 derivatives:
- one X thread (3 to 5 posts)
- one LinkedIn text post with a first comment
- one Instagram caption plus Reel cover note
- one YouTube Shorts title and description
- one Skool post for my community
3. Check every caption length first:
creatoros validate:post-length --text "<caption>"
4. Create all five as drafts:
creatoros posts:create --text "<c>" --platforms <p> --draft
5. Show me the draft list before anything is scheduled.
When you approve, schedule with explicit times and zones:
creatoros posts:update <postId> --scheduledAt 2025-06-03T09:00:00Z \
--timezone America/Toronto
Ask for the best slots first with creatoros analytics:best-time --platform linkedin. Upload media once with creatoros media:upload <file> and reuse the returned med_ id across platforms instead of uploading five copies. If you want the remix step built out further, the guide on building a content repurposing agent with Claude Code walks the whole pipeline.
For bulk weeks, use the calendar file path: creatoros posts:bulk-upload --file calendar.json --dryRun to validate, then drop --dryRun to schedule. The dry run is the safety net that makes template two safe to hand to an intern. Threads can be scheduled ahead too; the post on scheduling X threads in advance with Claude shows the shape.
Template 3: Weekly Reporting Automation for Social Media Operators
A reporting template replaces the Monday copy and paste ritual with one command and one fixed summary format.
Read weekly-report.md and follow it.
Range: last 7 days.
1. creatoros analytics:daily --from <iso> --to <iso>
2. creatoros analytics:posts --from <iso> --to <iso> \
--sortBy engagement --limit 10
3. creatoros accounts:follower-stats --granularity daily
4. Write a report with exactly these sections:
- Headline numbers (followers, engagement, posts shipped)
- Top 3 posts and why they worked
- Best posting time for next week
- 2 recommended changes
5. Save as report-week.md. Do not publish anything.
Two ways to run it on a clock. Inside Claude Code, ask for an automation with a schedule and a skill:
creatoros automations:create weekly-report \
--schedule "0 8 * * 1" --skill analytics
Or keep the report in the app and wire a webhook so a post.published or comment.received event pings your own endpoint, signed with X-CreatorOS-Signature. The webhooks docs cover the event list.
Add the numbers that matter to a client: creatoros skool:revenue <community> and creatoros skool:growth <community> if you run a paid community alongside the socials. Trackable short links give you click counts too: links_create and links_stats are available as MCP tools.
Claude Skills for Content Creation: How to Package Your Templates
A skill is a template with a name, a description and a place on disk, so Claude Code picks it up by intent instead of you pasting text each time.
The practical path: write your template once, save it as a skill file with a clear trigger line, then let the model load it when your request matches. Creator OS already ships 14 skills after npx @creatoros/cli@latest init: post-everywhere, post-shortform, post-longform, post-threads, schedule-posts, respond-to-comments, respond-to-dms, automations, analytics, kairos-dashboard, ads, meta-campaign-builder, skool and blog.
The campaign builder skills are a useful model to copy. They take a goal, a budget and a country list and produce a structured campaign plan. Your own skills can follow the same shape: inputs at the top, steps in the middle, a stop condition at the end.
Three rules that keep skills from misfiring:
- Name the stop condition. “Do not send until I approve” beats “be careful”.
- Point at exact commands.
creatoros posts:updatewith a real post id, not “update the post”. - One job per skill. Reply drafting and weekly reporting should not share a file.
Skills also come in as MCP prompts, so they appear in the AI app’s prompt or slash menu. The agents docs explain the wiring, and the social agents docs cover the open source harness if you want a ready-made starting point. Watch the walkthroughs on the KevBuildsApps YouTube channel if you learn better by watching someone click through it.
Using These Templates Inside Creator OS: Posting, Replies, and Reports
All three templates run through one workspace scoped key, which is what keeps a beginner setup from becoming a permissions problem.
| Template | Reads | Writes | Stop condition |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reply drafting | inbox:comments |
inbox:reply, inbox:private-reply |
Approval before send |
| Week of content | posts:get, analytics:best-time |
posts:create --draft, posts:update |
Draft list before scheduling |
| Weekly report | analytics:daily, accounts:follower-stats |
None | Never publishes |
On the MCP side the same jobs use tool names instead of shell commands: create_post, update_post, list_comments, reply_to_comment, get_daily_metrics, get_follower_stats and get_best_time_to_post. Creator OS exposes about 160 tools across posts, analytics, comments, DMs, automations, webhooks, Skool, Reddit, Discord, WhatsApp, broadcasts, Slack, Shopify, the blog and ads. Destructive tools such as delete post or disconnect account are marked so your AI app asks first.
Agency work fits cleanly here. Agency plans include a scoped API key per client workspace, so you copy the same three template files into each client folder and change one line: the key. The template body does not change.
For the ads side, the same pattern applies. The guide on connecting LinkedIn Ads to Claude Code shows the connect step, and every ad create can be dry run with --validateOnly, budgets are confirmed, and ads are created paused for review.
FAQ
What are Claude Code templates?
Claude Code templates are reusable instruction files, prompt snippets or skill files that tell Claude Code exactly what steps to run, in what order, and with what stop condition. You save them once and reuse them, so output stays consistent. In Creator OS they usually pair with creatoros CLI commands or MCP tools that do the actual posting, replying and reporting.
Can I use Claude Code templates without coding experience?
Yes, if you can paste text into a terminal and edit a markdown file. Install the CLI with npx @creatoros/cli@latest init, authenticate with creatoros auth:check, and start from the templates in this post. The commands do the technical work; your job is writing clear instructions and reviewing the output.
How do I connect Reddit Ads to Claude Code?
Creator OS connects paid ads through the Ads add-on, which covers Meta, Google, TikTok, LinkedIn, X and ChatGPT. Reddit is supported for posts, comment replies and DMs, not as an ads network. For the ad networks that are supported, run creatoros ads:connect <meta|google|tiktok|x> and check connections with creatoros ads:connections.
What are Claude skills for content creation?
Skills are packaged templates that Claude Code loads by intent, so you describe the job instead of pasting the whole prompt. Creator OS installs 14 of them, including post-everywhere, schedule-posts, respond-to-comments, analytics, ads, skool and blog. You can add your own, and creatoros sync keeps the shared ones updated without overwriting your edits.
Where can I find the official Claude Code docs?
Anthropic publishes the Claude Code documentation for the tool itself. For everything Creator OS adds, the CLI, MCP server, plugin and API, start at creatoros.ca/docs and use the CLI, MCP and Claude Code plugin pages linked above. Those pages carry the current commands, flags and connection steps.
Get started
Pick one template. Reply drafting is the smallest useful starting point because it touches live comments and takes ten minutes to prove.
Create an account at creatoros.ca/sign-up, make an API key in Settings, run npx @creatoros/cli@latest init, then creatoros inbox:comments --limit 5. If you see real comments, you are ready to paste template one into Claude Code.
When you want the remix and reporting templates too, add them one at a time and check each before trusting it on a schedule.
Creator OS plans start at $14.99/month for 11 platforms plus Skool, with the API, the MCP server and the CLI included. If you would rather see the whole loop in motion first, the launch video shows it end to end, and there are more builds on the KevBuildsApps channel.
