Read-Only API Keys: Let an AI Agent See Your Analytics Without Posting

Give a reporting agent a read-only Creator OS key: it can read posts, analytics, comments and DMs, but it cannot publish, reply or change anything.

Not every agent should be able to post. A weekly-report agent only needs to read. Creator OS read-only keys let an agent see your posts, analytics, followers, comments and DMs, while every write is refused.

What a read-only key can and can’t do

How to create one

  1. Open Settings in Creator OS, then API keys.
  2. Create a read-only key and name it after the agent that will use it.
  3. Hand that key to the agent.

What it blocks

Any request that would change something (publishing, replying, deleting, editing automations) is rejected with an insufficient_scope error. Through the MCP connector, a read-only connection only sees the reporting tools.

Good uses

  • A weekly performance summary sent to your team
  • A dashboard in your own tools
  • Sharing numbers with a client or analyst

Details: Authentication. For full control, see the Creator OS API.
