A Meta Ads MCP server lets Claude, ChatGPT or Claude Code work inside your Facebook and Instagram ad account: see what’s spending, rank campaigns, boost the posts that are already winning organically, build a full campaign from a one-line brief, and pause what isn’t working. Creator OS includes one in its Ads add-on, built so that nothing spends money without you seeing it first.

Meta Ads Manager is powerful and slow. Most of what people do in it every day is reading (how is this doing, which ad is cheapest, what did we spend) and small changes (pause this, raise that budget, boost that Reel). Those are exactly the jobs an AI is good at when it has the right tools. The risk is money, so the tools are built around three rules:
- Dry run first. Before anything is created, the tools run it with
validate_only: nothing is created, and you see what passed and what didn’t. - Confirm spend. Budgets, dates and targeting are confirmed with you before launch.
- Paused by default. New ads are created paused so you can review them in Ads Manager, then switch them on.
A read-only connection only sees the reporting tools, so you can give an analyst agent access without giving it a credit card.
What you can do
- Report: spend, results and cost per result per campaign, ad set and ad. “Rank my campaigns by cost per click this month.”
- Find posts worth boosting:
ads_best_postsranks your organic Facebook and Instagram posts by how they performed. - Boost a post with a budget, duration and audience.
- Create ads with a headline, body, link, image or video and call to action.
- Build full campaigns with the
meta-campaign-builderskill: objective, budget and bidding, conversion goal, audience with a reach estimate, placements, creative (image, video or carousel), Meta’s own previews, dry run, approval, launch. - Target by country, region, city, age, gender, interests and behaviours, and search Meta’s targeting ids by name.
- Audiences: customer lists, website audiences and lookalikes.
- Manage: pause, resume, change budgets, duplicate a winner.
- Leads: read Meta lead form submissions and comments on your ads.
- Everything else: pixels, the Conversions API, catalogs, creatives and insights reports through the pass-through
ads_readandads_requesttools.
Set it up
- Create a Creator OS account and connect your Facebook Page.
- Turn on the Ads add-on ($19.99/month on any plan, no percentage of spend) on the Ads page and connect Meta ads. If your Page connection already has ads access, there’s no extra sign-in.
- Add
https://mcp.creatoros.ca/mcpto Claude (Settings, Connectors) or ChatGPT (developer mode). - In Claude, open the prompt menu and pick Meta Campaign Builder, or just describe what you want.
Prompts that work
- “How are my ads doing this month? Rank campaigns by cost per click.”
- “Boost yesterday’s Reel with $15 a day for 5 days in the US. Create it paused and show me the setup.”
- “Pause every campaign that spent more than $50 this week with a CTR under 0.5%.”
- “Create a customer list audience from these emails and use it on a new traffic ad.”
- “Which of my organic Instagram posts from the last 30 days would make the best ad? Boost the top one, paused.”
Things Meta is strict about
Budgets are whole currency units
A budget of 20 is $20.00 on a USD account, not 20 cents. Each ad account has one currency.
Review
Every new ad starts in review and can come back rejected. The tools report the review status and Meta’s reason.
Pacing
Meta allows about 30 creates per ad account per 5 minutes. Going faster can trigger security holds on the ad account, so Creator OS paces creates for you and returns a retry time instead of risking the account.
Beyond Meta
The same add-on covers Google Ads, TikTok Ads (including Spark Ads on your organic TikToks), X Ads, LinkedIn Ads and ChatGPT Ads, with matching tools. See running ads from your AI agent and the Meta ads docs.
FAQ
Can Claude spend money without asking?
Not by design: ads are dry-run, confirmed and created paused. You can also connect read only.
Do you take a cut of ad spend?
No. Meta bills your ad account directly. The add-on is a flat $19.99/month.
Can an agency run this for clients?
Yes. Ad connections live in a workspace, so each client’s ad account stays in that client’s workspace.
Prefer to watch? The KevBuildsApps YouTube channel walks through builds like this one, start to finish.
